She Asked Why and Talking to the Light are written from my personal experience as a daughter of a mean, sadistic, narcissistic mother and a she/her voice. If you resonate with this work, no matter how you identify, please know you are welcome here. Healing is universal and your presence is honored.

AI transparency: I used AI to assist with my antiquated writing. Turns out the writing I learned in 10th grade honors English back in 1983 is outdated (old Mrs. Otey would be disappointed). I used AI to help me through writing the sections of Talking to the Light that were too difficult to write because of intense emotion (writing through tears is challenging, to say the least), then I rewrote what was generated by ChatGPT into my own voice. The voice and story are mine.

Disclaimer: I am not a licensed therapist nor do I pretend to be one. Therapy helped me greatly and I highly recommend it. I share my personal experiences to support and guide others navigating similar journeys. My knowledge comes from over half a century of lived experience as the daughter of a covert narcissistic mother who worsened with age.
